GISHWHES

Around the Web, Hobbies/Interests 0 Comment »

Now that the play is done I dove head first into another project. This is an international scavenger hunt with the hopes of breaking the Guinness Book of World records for largest scavenger hunt.

The items are hilarious and some so out there that there is no way to get some of them even though we are in teams of 10 with members around the world.

Go to gishwhes.com and see for yourself!

P.S. Anyone want to volunteer to wear a dress made out of bacon or perhaps go jousting in a supermarket?

No?

Really?

Thought I would have thousands jumping at the chance.

Lol!

S and I finished our last performance of ‘Gypsy’ today! It was a wonderful experience especially for him as his first play.

He has been asked to be in a production of Pippin so he will be playing Theo. Rehearsals start in January but this time I will be backstage rather than onstage. I used to always like being onstage but at this point I prefer being backstage so for Pippin I will be doing props and something.

In the spring I will be helping out for a production of ‘Cabaret’ running the lighting boards or something. Gypsy and Cabaret are with a theatre group I haven’t been a part of before so I have to work my way up from the bottom. I am hoping that in a few years I can work my way up to stage manager. I have been a stage manager before for a production of ‘West Side Story’ as well as ‘The Lion in Winter’ and I loved it.

I love being back in theatre!

Crimson: If you look at the top bar of the window you will see the number

Caller: *CRUNCH* *CRUNCH* *CRUNCH* I don’t see it *CRUNCH* *CRUNCH*

Crimson: Looks like the annual bowling tournament isn’t just Department1 anymore, it is now Corporate wide. Looks like CoWorker #1 will have to brush up on his skills now.

CoWorker #2: That’s okay CoWorker #3 is good too.

Crimson: CoWorker #1 is the Scott Pilgrim of the bowling world though.

Crimson: I have to go make my presence known in the ladies room.

CoWorker: What are you going to do, kick the door in and yell “HEY!”?

Crimson: I do that every time, you just never see it because you have to cover the phones whenever I go.

CoWorker: Have you tried Dragon Fruit?

Crimson: What’s that?

CoWorker: (tosses something over cubicle wall)

Crimson: Oh, a Crystal Light flavour. I’ll have to try that today.

CoWorker: Just be careful because it will give you ninja like powers

Crimson: And since I am already a ninja, it will amplify my ninja abilities until I out-ninja even Chuck Norris

CoWorker: No, it is made from Chuck Norris’s sweat, so at best…

Crimson: I will just equal Chuck Norris then.

CoWorker: Or at least give him a workout.

Crimson: To create more sweat for him to make more Dragon Fruit with… I see how this works.

I Dreamed a Dream

Hobbies/Interests 0 Comment »

I am getting back into theatre after a very long haitus so I have hired a vocal coach to help me get back into singing. She seems really nice and knowledgable so I think our styles will mesh quite nicely. My homework for this week is to pick two songs to work on. So far I am thinking ‘Somwhere’ from West Side Story and ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from Les Miserable. My coach though introduced me to a really good song called ‘I’m Still Hurting’ from Five Years Gone By which I seem to do okay at. I think she wants one of my songs though to be a pop song so they are different genres. I am not sure what to pick though. At first I was thinking ‘What About Love’ by Heart but while I can hit the notes I just don’t do the song justice. H suggested a song by Elton John so I am going to give it a go tomorrow.

Rehearsal for ‘Gypsy’ starts tomorrow which both S and I are in although we just have very small non-singing non-speaking roles since this will be S’s first play and he is only 7 so I want to make sure theatre is really something he wants to do before committing to something larger.

Let there be light…

You just know it is the middle of the night and I am going through a stretch where I haven’t been sleeping when I decide to share my views on God. I am warning you now though that unless you could see inside my brain you won’t fully understand what I am getting at. Here goes…

God is a dimension. God is a state of being. God is the space between spaces that connects us all. We are all God and God is all of us. God is the basic essence or building block of everything. God permeates.

My beliefs are based on what I understand of string theory before I even knew what string theory was.

Faith and religion are something else entirely. Neither have anything to do with God. They are man-made constructs designed to keep the world from falling into chaos. They are born from human instinct for survival as individuals and as a species.

If humans had no faith then we would self destruct because without faith there is no belief in consequence and if there is no belief in consequence then humans would do whatever the heck they felt like doing and as I said, self-destruct as a species.

That is just the beginning but I am too tired to write more tonight…

Zzzz…
