With eyes closed
And open mind
Calling on the
Ties that bind
Silent words
Cast a spell
Projecting light
Making well
Healing thoughts
For those in need
Mend thy spirit
In word and deed

The Llama was insane. It knew that.
But that didn’t stop it from sitting in the silver chair atop the grassy knoll. With hind legs crossed and chin resting restlessly on a front hoof the beast contemplated his quick descent into psychosis that began and ended that very morning in the blink of an eye.
Yesterday… sane. Today… insane. There it was and with very little in between.
In fact he wasn’t even a llama at all but rather a goat with a dramatically elongated neck as a birth defect and an ambition to be more than he was. So llama was his chosen identity rather than the one chosen for him by the seemingly random events that lead to his being born a goat.
Oh cruel fates!
To be a goat meant… well to not be a llama and any sane being wanted to be a llama. Majestic creatures that they were, the llama commanded the admiration and respect of the entire southern continent with a single glance.
So here he was… a non-llama llama in a silver chair.
Hmmm… maybe the monkeys wanted to play.
I decided to postpone the Peru trip until the following year since financially and workwise it just wasn’t going to work out. At least I have Myrtle Beach and Florida to look forward to in the future. Yay!
Oh yeah, and a whole year more for me and D to learn Spanish. I am sure she will be just as thrilled as me…lol.
Hola!
D and I went to our first Spanish class in preparation for our trip to Peru in June. We are going with a group of students from the university I attended and will be doing community development work there with the local population. I am really, really looking forward to it and think it will be a great experience for D who is currently in grade six.
I have a terrible memory so hopefully I will remember or learn enough Spanish to be able to communicate in a basic fashion and not accidentally tell someone they are the bastard offspring of a three legged, demented goat with tertiary syphillis.
Well, unless they are of course… but what are the odds?
Samurai Winter.
The craziest, hungriest looking fish known to man.
Okay, maybe not to man but to my family at least. This is our Silver Molly fish that we have had for about a year and a half. Anyone who ever comes over and sees this fish, the first thing they ask is ‘Have you fed your fish lately?’. Not because he looks emaciated or scrawny or anything, he is actually our biggest fish but he just has this way of looking at you… like you are going to be his next meal or something.
Seriously.
This little guy is not afraid of anyone and always comes over to stare at you if you come within ten feet of the fish tank. I swear he must have been a Piranha in a past life. He’s also pretty scrappy and has survived jumping out of the tank a few times. Once even landing on the carpet where it took us a good 2-3 minutes before we found him.
So is this scraping the bottom of the fish barrel by posting about my fish? I gotta say again though, he just has his way of looking at you…
Feeling pretty random today (hence the post title). There are lots of things that I know I need to think about but I can’t focus on any one thing today. I am going to have to start taking my mini digital recorder around with me again because on days like this the only time I can think clearly is while I am driving. The moment I simply sit on the couch and set to do some thinking my mind goes to white noise… not blank… but white noise.
Yes, it is as weird as it sounds but no I am not crazy (then again crazy people never think they are… muhahaha *wink*). Admittedly it also sounds strange that someone would plan time to simply think when it is a reflexive action that takes place all the time in response to external stimuli but my life is so busy that sometimes I have to have some me time to sort it all out in my head, set my goals, and mentally prepare myself for what’s ahead.
Please tell me I am not the only one who does this…lol.
Anyway, maybe tomorrow will be a more focused day and I will accomplish more. On a positive note, my new computer desk is being delivered tomorrow *insert girlish squee here*. I am overly excited because the store screwed up on the delivery date (it was supposed to be this past Tuesday) and because my computer desk currently is my dresser which is not exactly conducive to productivity or comfort.
I finally found some time and energy to overhaul my web site. Of course I had to find the time at 4:00 am…lol… but it will be worth it. Or so I told H as he urged me several times to get some sleep.
I also found some time to get back into creating some artist trading cards which has been on hold since 2005… seriously, since 2005. Anyway, I am planning to create a small stockpile of them before I get into trading but it will take some time for that. There is that nasty T word again… time. Maybe by 2012 I will be ready…lol. In the meantime here is the very first card I created in December 2005.
I have a lot of hobbies and interests although usually I don’t have time to indulge myself and my numerous projects (like the latch hook rug I started 12 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter that is collecting dust somewhere in the basement) end up on the back burner to the day to day demands of life.
Some of my hobbies and interests include or have included Artist Trading Cards (which I am now getting back into after a four year hiatus), Decos, Paper Twilling, Stamping, Postcards, RPGs (the written storytelling kind and larping), Trivia, Improv, Theatre, Random Acts of Kindness, Reading, Writing, Photography and much more.
I will have more info on those later as I develop this page but for now you can have a look at some of the Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) I have created in my photo gallery.
Origami – I finished my first kusudama project which took about three hours to do. The paper cutting and folding was a little tedious but I am very happy with the end result. While kusudama is technically a form of origami, some purists disagree since it involves glueing parts together. I then made a few lotus flowers which are easier and less labour intensive.
I am just your average netizen with my own senseless
ramblings to add to the chaos of the internet.
This is a conversation between my son (S), daughter (D) and myself (Me) about what my son wants to be when he grows up.
__________________
D: S, what are you going to be when you grow up? I’m going to be a veterinarian.
S: Drive police cars and fire trucks
D: You can only be one thing. Which one are you going to be?
Me: He can be more than one thing if he wants. You don’t have to be one thing forever.
D: And what else S?
S: Fix remotes and TVs
D: And what else?
S: Go in sheds
Me: What are you going to do in the sheds (trying very hard not to laugh)?
S: See the dead mice
D: And do what?
S: Bring them home
D: What are you going to do when you bring them home?
S: Give them water.
Me: Why would you give water to dead mice?
S: To make them alive again
D: Then what would you do with them?
S: Put them in water and hold them.
D: They can’t breathe under water.
Me: Maybe they are swimming.
S: Then get a small cup that fits in their house and give them water.
D: And then what will you do?
S: And then they will sleep.
D: And after they sleep?
S: Let them play with my toys.
D: They would play with your toys?
S: Yes, and then they will give them back.
Me: Sounds like very nice mice.
S: Yes, they are nice and they give them back because they like me.
