Happy 43rd Birthday James Marsters

Family, Health, Hobbies/Interests 0 Comment »

Hope I look as good when I am 43. Anyway, I am going to the Canadian National Science Fiction Expo next Saturday and will get a chance to meet him and get his autograph. I have always liked him and his character Spike from Angel/Buffy and didn’t find out until about a year ago that we have the same birthday. Cool.

I spent a couple of days traipsing about cemeteries around central Ontario. No, not a fetish or goth thing..lol. I was doing some geneology research with my mother and taking pictures of headstones of various family members who passed away in the 1800’s and 1900’s. That portion of my family lived quite a long time. Most of them were in their 80’s and 90’s when they passed on. Good to know. Someday, when I am not so terrified of flying and have bundles of cash lying around, I will get to England to do some of the research there.

Today I am off to a comic book store to see what goodies they might have and tomorrow it is to Toronto for a volunteer meeting for the Expo.

The diet is going very well and I am 50% of the way to my target. Yay. A lot of people will be quite suprised when I go back to school. Oh ya, and I had laser surgery for my eyes and the results are awesome!!!!

The wiccan celebration was very interesting and enjoyable to watch. We plan on attending some of the classes in the futre but with my hectic schedule it won’t be as often as I like.

In other news…I am have volunteered for the Canadian National Expo which has several venues such as Science Fiction, Horror, Comic Books, Anime and Gaming. They have an amazing list of guest stars. There have tons of people volunteer and only have so many volunteer spots so we will see what happens but I won’t find out until the beginning of August. If you don’t know about the expo here is a link.

Well, that’s about it for now.

Semi charmed kind of life…

Family, Hobbies/Interests 0 Comment »

I decided to surprise my mother today by taking her to a summer solstice celebration. I haven’t been to one before but have been interested for some time. I’ve looked to see if there are any local groups as many offer classes but so far have not found a truly established circle. The Wiccan Church of Canada has a Temple a short enough drive away so we are joining their celebration and might attend some of their classes on other weekends.

I might even run into some of my university friends that are wiccan and/or pagan.

Crybaby

Health, Hobbies/Interests, School 0 Comment »

I have to stop reading sad books when I know how much they affect me when I am in a low curve. Last night I read “Suzanne’s Diary to Nicholas” by James Patterson, which is a huge departure from most of his other books like “Kiss the Girls” and “Along Came a Spider”. Anyway, after finishing it I had to go to the grocery store to pick up some things and I cried all the way there and all the way back because of this story. Thankfully I was able to maintain some composure while in the store at least. It had me depressed all night and even thinking about it chokes me up a tad.

Not to worry though friends, I am feeling quite better today and it was a really good book if anyone is interested in reading it.

Another book that I read a short while ago that was REALLY good was “The Lovely Bones” by Alice Sebold. She writes the story from a very unique and interesting perspective.

Next on my list is “Lost” by Joy Fielding. The fictional story takes place during the Toronto Film Festival which is what piqued my interest being a Canuck and all.

The diet is going very well, I have lost 37 pounds in less than two months…hurray!!

Well, my Psychology of Learning class is starting soon so I have to be off. Last week the classroom was infested with ants, which is odd since we are on the third floor.

Coincidence???

General, Hobbies/Interests 1 Comment »

I ran a search for my web site on yahoo and crimson myst came up with some interesting results. I think some of the results are more than coincidence. I came up with the character of Crimson Myst (creating the name from a slogan I mentioned in the intro to my web site) for a Star Wars rpg I used to write on (with koori *waves* and her sis *waves*, and *hugs* to both). Now the name appears in connection with several other star wars and rpg related sites. Me thinks someone has copied the name since all the entries on these various web sites are dated after I created this character. Hmmmmm…..

I am sure out there someone has coincidentally created the same pen name but I do think in some of the instances I found that it is not a coincidence.

Advice???

Hobbies/Interests 0 Comment »

It has been quite awhile siince my last post. The joys of motherhood are quite demanding. But I have a delemma that I need advice on.

I am a member of two clubs, one of which I run and there is this person in both clubs who is very flatulent. I am guessing it is a medical thing but he hasn’t said anything to that effect. He does say excuse me after but it is getting on my nerves especially since one club has him in very close proximity to the other members and the other club has him in my car as I drive our team to various engagements.

Do I ignore this? Do I take him aside and ask him to leave the room when he feels the need? Do I suggest he take a product to help with this problem?

Gack! I can’t figure out that to do without being rude.

A couple of postings

Just thought I would post a couple of posts from one of my story groups. This one has some really great writers!!

*~*~*~*~*~

Scarlett strode into the security office with Spike close beside her. “Well, that was a waste.” She glanced sideways at the elder vampire. “Except that I learned that William here has no fans, even amongst the undead.” She sat down at her regular chair at the head of the table. “Belle, good to see you.” She frowned just a little, her brows knitting together. “Did you learn anything.”

Belle nodded. “I learned we’re facing ‘The Dweller Below’.

“Oh, bloody hell,” Spike said, his voice a harsh whisper. “Maybe I was better off dead.”

*~*~*~*~*~

>An elder witch explains about the ‘Dweller Below’ to Scarlett and Rueben

The proprietor frowned. “It would take the most incredible spell, an unbinding of massive proportions.” She looked over to Rueben. “You know how all things are linked together. The ancient spells which hold the Dweller Below are woven into the very fabric of the land.” The proprietor shook her head. “No, there doesn’t exist the power in the world today to create an dimensional undoing on that scale.”

“But if there were?” Rueben said, fixing his stare on the elder wicca. “What then?”

The woman blanched at the thought. “Then, student of demons, it could be the end of everything!”

“Always with the apocalypse.” Scarlett muttered, “Why can’t the bad guys take up another hobby, like playing Dungeons and Dragons over a pint of beer and nachos or something.”

A Larping I will go..

Hobbies/Interests 2 Comments »

I met someone quite interesting last night. Well I can’t say met, since I met her before but I never really spoke to her before last night.

I’m becoming more comfortable with my instincts and this person makes me feel comfortable sharing them. I have the feeling that she and I are supposed to become friends for a period of time and that I am to learn something from her, something important that will change me and possibly my perceptions. She shared some pretty radical stuff (no, not drugs, I don’t do that stuff) I mean infromation that while I can’t say I totally understand and accept what she told me I am always open to the possibility.

My problem is I am so rooted in a life of technology and 9 to 5 and debt and responsibility that it’s hard to see the magic (yes, I mean real magic here). I need to get back to the way I used to be, no, that’s not right, what I need to do is to find a way to integrate them harmoniously. I need to believe more.

Wow, I can’t believe how long it has been since I wrote in here. I have been so busy with various projects, mostly web stuff. I do have something fun to offer though. I have added some Madlibs to my web site. If you want to play you can find them at:

I just came up with a great idea for some photos for my web site. But you know what, you are just gonna have to wait and see what it is.

*looks around to make sure no one is trying to read her mind and steal the idea*

Another memory popped into mind today, quite funny actually but it might be one of those “you had to be there” type dealies. Anyway, I used to make my own postcards to send to my friends in college and university. I would take things like condom boxes or tampon boxes and cut out one of the sides and put silly (or pervy, depending on the occassion and my mood) messages etc on the blank side and then stamp & address them and send them. The Canadian postal system will deliver just about anything so long as it has a stamp and address.
